Here we are at the end of August already! I cannot believe how quickly summer has passed. While I do enjoy the change of season and Apple Hill opening, I love summer and never want to see it go! I’ve wanted to start a series like this for quite some time now. So let’s do this – here are some fun things I am lovin’ lately!
Film
Oh man, the film bug has bitten…again! Fun fact, I shot my first couple of sessions on film. Shortly after I started, I switched to digital. Recently, I purchased a medium format camera (Pentax 645n). I am having a blast figuring it all out again. There is something that film provides that is lost when you go digital. Plus, it is like Christmas when I get an email from The FIND Lab saying my scans are ready! I see progress, which is good, but I still have a way to go before I would feel confident enough to shoot a whole session on film. Don’t be surprised if I pull out my medium format camera during your session now…just sayin’.
Here are some of my favorite frames from a recent trip to Santa Cruz and some frames from a few recent sessions.
Planner // Bullet Journal
It is ridiculous how excited I get when I talk about my planner. I LOVE paper planners. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the convenience of having a digital calendar, but I will always use a paper planner. For me, there is something so satisfying about seeing my week laid out, and checking things off as I go.
For the last couple years I have used The Simplified Planner – Daily Edition. While I enjoyed all the space I had to plan my day, I missed seeing my week in full. So this (academic) year, I decided to try the weekly edition. I am about a month in and I love it!
In addition to trying out new planner layout, I am also trying out a new Bullet Journal. As you all know, in addition to being a planner girl, I am also a list girl. There is a new system floating around called the Bullet Journal. While I don’t use it exactly how they do, I totally see the benefit. It is nice to have a place where I can put all my to-do’s, both business and otherwise, and check them off as I go. One of the huge benefits to creating a bullet planner, is the customization. It is a blank page and you create everything in it – dates, pages, lists, appointments, etc. May Designs offers some adorable notebook options and I use one to create my Bullet Lists there.
Right now, I just have one for my business. I have several sections – 2016 goals, to purchase, to do, to Blog, and an ever growing/changing business bucket list.
If you are interested in learning a little more about Bullet Journaling, here are a couple links to get you started here and here.
Gray Malin
If I ever need a desk-side getaway, I visit Gray Malin’s website. It is a tropical vision! I LOVE the phone wallpapers he emails his newsletter subscribers every few months. Here is the most recent batch..
White Peach Gin Fizz
My favorite cocktail is a gin + tonic, especially in the summer. It is cold, light, and refreshing. When I stumbled across this recipe on Pinterest, I knew I had to try it. It is a perfect summer cocktail!
For the record, this might be the longest post I’ve ever written! It you like it, let me know and I’ll post more like this!
Until next time, C
